Michael Hawley is the director of Special Projects and founder of MIT’s Go Expeditions program and has been on the faculty of MIT for nearly a decade, working on a wide array of creative projects with students in electrical engineering and in the Media Lab, where he held the Alex W. Dreyfoos professorship. Hawley is the co-founder of Things That Think, founder of Toys of Tomorrow, and Counter Intelligence, all of which function to explore the limitless ways that digital media can infuse everyday objects. He is also founder of the nonprofit Friendly Planet, which is dedicated to children’s education in developing countries.
