Caroline Leavitt

Caroline Leavitt is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling novelist, screenwriter, editor, critic, and teacher. She is the author of eleven novels, including Pictures of You, listed as a best book of 2011 by the San Francisco Chronicle, The Providence Journal, and Kirkus Reviews; This is Tomorrow, an Indie Next Pick; and Into Thin Air, which earned Leavitt a 1990 New York Foundation of the Arts Award for fiction. Her essays and short fiction have been published in Salon, New York Times Sunday Book Review, Publishers Weekly, the Washington Post, and the Boston Globe, and she has appeared on the Today Show and the Diane Rehm Show. She is a critic for the San Francisco Chronicle and People, and she currently teaches novel writing at both Stanford University and UCLA Extension’s writers’ program. Her most recent novel, Cruel Beautiful World, is a tender and painful story of family, loyalty, and duty set in 1970s America.
