Jennifer Markell

Jennifer Markell’s first poetry collection, Samsara, was named a “Must Read Book of Poetry” by the Massachusetts Book Awards and a finalist in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. Markell won the Barbara Bradley award in 2016 for her poem “Blue Johnnies” from the New England Poetry Club. Her poem “Facing the Enemy” was a finalist for the 2016 Rita Dove Prize in Poetry sponsored by the Salem College Center for Women Writers and is included in the Compassion Anthology. Her work has appeared in publications including Consequence, The Hawaii Pacific Review, Rhino, Tinderbox, and The Women’s Review of Books (forthcoming). Markell’s poetry has been displayed at Boston City Hall, and she was invited to read at the MFA in Boston for their Valentine’s Day Celebration. Markell works as a psychotherapist with a special interest in therapeutic uses of writing.
