Jerald Walker

Jerald Walker is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and a professor of creative writing at Emerson college. His writing has been published in journals including the Harvard Review, Missouri Review, the Oxford American, Iowa Review, and the Chronicle of Higher Education and has been anthologized in four collections of the Best American Essays. He is the author of two books: Street Shadows: A Memoir of Race, Rebellion, and Redemption, winner of a PEN New England / L.L. Winship Award for Nonfiction and named Best Memoir of the Year by Kirkus, and, most recently, The World in Flames: A Black Boyhood in a White Supremacist Doomsday Cult.
