John Kaag is a professor of philosophy at University of Massachusetts, Lowell, specializing in aesthetics, philosophy of mind, and American philosophy. He is the author of Idealism, Pragmatism, and Feminism and Thinking Through the Imagination: Aesthetics in Human Cognition, and his writing has appeared in publications including the New York Times, Harper’s Magazine, the Christian Science Monitor, and the Chronicle of Higher Education. In American Philosophy: A Love Story, Kaag builds a bridge between philosophical history and the common reader in what Kirkus describes as a “compelling hybrid combining memoir, a dramatic narrative about saving an endangered rare book collection, and the intellectual history of philosophy” that is “perfect for book lovers and soul searchers alike.”
