Kids' Keynote

Jon Klassen is a bestselling illustrator and author of children’s books who earned a 2013 Caldecott Medal for his book This is Not My Hat, as well as the 2011 New York Times Best Illustrated Book award for its sequel I Want My Hat Back. Combined, both books have spent more than ninety weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and have been translated into twenty-two languages. His collaborative works with children’s writer Mac Barnett, Extra Yarn and Sam and Dave Dig a Hole, have been Caldecott Honor books in 2013 and 2015 respectively. Klassen also illustrated Lemony Snicket’s The Dark, three books of Maryrose Wood’s The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place, and Sara Pennypacker’s Pax, which the Horn Book calls “an emotional, thought-provoking” story of the powerful relationship between a boy and his fox. His latest work, We Found a Hat, concludes his award-winning hat trilogy and combines both his deadpan humor and his sense for encapsulating moral dilemmas.
