Margot Livesey

Margot Livesey is a New York Times bestselling author of short stories and eight novels, including The Missing World, Eva Moves the Furniture, and The Flight of Gemma Hardy. The current fiction editor at Ploughshares, Livesey has published short fiction in The New Yorker, Story, American Short Fiction, North American Review, and TriQuarterly. She has also taught writing at various institutions, including Boston University, Brandeis University, Emerson College, Tufts University, and presently, the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Her work has earned her an L.L. Winship/PEN New England Award, and she is the recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, Massachusetts Artists Foundation, and the Radcliffe Institute. Her most recent novel, Mercury, is, according to Kirkus, a dark, “probing study of the way character shapes our destinies.”
