Maria Semple

Kickoff Presenter

Maria Semple debuted as a novelist in 2008 with the publication of This One is Mine, followed in 2012 by the nationally-bestselling epistolary novel Where’d You Go, Bernadette, which won the 2013 American Library Association Alex Award and was a 2013 Women’s Prize for Fiction Nominee. Her most recent work, Today Will Be Different, features a twelve-page graphic novel illustrated by Eric Chase Anderson and is described by Semple as a “fun romp” whose protagonist is just “try[ing] to get through the day with a certain amount of dignity” when, inevitably, “life happens.”
